I love what I do here at Marx Jewelers! I get to create custom jewelry as part of some of the best moments in my customers’ lives: engagements, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, holidays, and so much more.
One of the greatest things about this business is that I don’t just sell generic or “boilerplate” jewelry—I sell custom jewelry for any occasion!
Of all the occasions people come to me for, I particularly love offering custom wedding rings. Almost no occasion is more important for jewelry than a wedding, so I wanted to remind everyone of the value of getting a custom wedding ring.Perfect Fit
One benefit of a custom wedding ring is the perfect fit. By “fit,” I mean two things:
First of all, when I design a ring for you, it will be made from the start to fit your finger, rather than having to be altered after the fact.
Second, you can design a ring that’s exactly what you want! How often do people walk into a jewelry store or the jewelry section of a chain store and pick from the selection that’s there? What do you think is the likelihood that they find the exact ring they’d envisioned?
When you get a custom wedding ring, you can be sure that it’s customized to match the vision you’ve held for it. And that’s a special feeling!
Your love and your bond is something completely unique to you and your significant other. When you get ready to say “I do,” don’t you want your rings to reflect that uniqueness?
Most couples get rings that are just like the rings of thousands of other couples. There’s no uniqueness to them!
Wouldn’t you love to be able to show off your rings and proudly state that your ring is custom—that there’s no other ring in the world exactly like the one on your finger? That you put your heart into its design and that it captures how you feel perfectly? I love being able to give you that feeling.
Price is the major stumbling block that makes most people think that a custom wedding ring just isn’t for them. And you know what? It might be true for most custom jewelers, that they charge too much for the average couple to pay for.
But at Marx Jewelers, we make custom wedding rings and other jewelry at very affordable prices! For just a little more money than that one-size-fits-all ring at a chain store, you can purchase a gorgeous, custom wedding ring at Marx that shows how much you care.
Even though a marriage isn’t based on what wedding ring you have, the ring is an enduring symbol of your love and commitment. Putting thought into the ring and getting something customized truly does show how much you care.
We’re excited to help you out! Let us know what we can do for you.

~SlavaAt Marx Jewelers, we love our brides-to-be and seeing their faces light up when they see their beautiful custom wedding rings for the first time. We also understand how stressful planning a wedding can be, which is why we want to make this process as easy as possible for them.
We’ve already got you covered when it comes to designing a custom wedding band that you will enjoy for years to come, but what about all the other details that a wedding involves?
Because there are so many different elements to creating the perfect wedding, it’s really easy to forget something, or you might just get so overwhelmed that you’re ready to throw in the towel before you even take the first step down the aisle.
Before you call the whole thing off, here are three basic rules every bride should follow—you might find it helpful to remember them while planning for your big day.
Every bride wants to look her absolute best on her special day, but that doesn’t mean that you need to lose so much weight that not even your groom will recognize you.
If you want to lose a couple of pounds through healthy eating habits or an exercise routine that gives you more energy, that’s wonderful, and we highly encourage any activity that makes you feel healthy.
What we caution against here is setting an unrealistic expectation or adopting a regimen that will leave you feeling weak, tired, and “spaced out” because you haven’t been eating.
Remember, your significant other fell in love with you the way are and will continue to love you without you needing to change what’s on the outside.
You may have dreamt about that unique and exotic flower arrangement that has to be flown in from Bora Bora, those hors d'oeuvres made by the top French chef, or that very elegant Vera Wang table setting that has a backorder waiting list of five years, but how realistic is it that you’ll be able to make all these things happen?
The key rule to follow here is to pick the one detail that is the most important to you and focus on that.
If you try to do too much, or if your expectations are set beyond your means, you’ll burn yourself out and possibly end up not having anything you’d set your heart on for your wedding.
This is your special day! That is really the only thing you need to remember when planning your wedding.
Don’t worry about what everyone else thinks about the colors you’ve chosen, whether your bridesmaids will ever wear their dresses again, or if everyone likes the food you’re serving at the reception.
Sure, you want everyone to enjoy themselves and have fun, but it’s not about them…it’s about you and your groom.
Go ahead and take dietary needs into consideration, but don’t change your whole menu because Susan is a vegetarian, Bob is gluten-free, Allen eats only kosher foods, or Grandma Alma is lactose intolerant.
Here are some great ideas that are destined to have something for everyone:
fruit and vegetable tray - maybe in an elegant display that is fun and colorful
meat and cheese tray - keep these separate from the fruits and veggies, but have a nice variety
gluten-free tray - this can include pretty much anything that is gluten-free, whether it’s fruits, vegetables, crackers, or cheeses
bread and cracker tray - mix a variety of breads and crackers—there’s bound to be something for everyone.
If you follow these very simple rules while you’re planning your wedding, we think you will be much happier, enjoy having your custom wedding ring placed on your finger, and a little less stressed when your big day arrives.

June is not only the height of spring and the official beginning of summer, it also happens to be the most popular month for weddings. We have been very busy creating custom wedding ring designs for all the soon-to-be brides!
Although many people have different ideas about which month is best to have their wedding, the overall consensus seems to be June.
According to some stories, the popularity of June as a wedding month originated with a festival celebrated well over two thousand years ago. On June 1st, the Romans would celebrate a festival in honor of the deity Juno, wife of Jupiter and the goddess of marriage and childbirth.
Statue of Juno
They believed that the month of June would bring good luck and favorable omens for those who married during that time.
There is another historic legend suggesting that June was the best month to marry because it had to do with cleanliness and what was known as an annual bath. Bathing wasn’t considered a necessity back then, and people reserved their bathing to only once a year.
This annual bath was typically observed during the end of May and the beginning of June, when the weather became warmer after the end of a long winter.
People believed this was the best time to get married because they were at their most presentable, as opposed to the rest of the year when they weren’t as clean. That may or may not be true, but it does make some sense.
All I can say is, thank goodness times and traditions have changed since then!
Let’s face it, we all know that Portland gets a lot of rain! And that’s a good thing because without all that rain, we wouldn’t have the lush green plants, full foliage, and endless annual flower blossoms that make our town so beautiful year-round.Lush garden
However, June in Portland is a really exceptional month, especially for weddings!
With all of the perennial and annual gardens in full bloom, the sidewalk cafes and outdoor markets in full swing, and the sun shining brighter, longer, and more often, it is the destination for a beautiful ceremony.
But it’s not just the weather that makes June the best time of year to get married in Portland. The real highlight is the incredible and world-famous Portland Rose Festival, where we will be celebrating over 100 years of Portland’s unique culture this year!
Portland Rose Festival 2014
The 2014 Portland Rose Festival officially gets under way Memorial Day weekend and goes through the entire month of June.
If you have planned or are planning your wedding in Portland this June, you are guaranteed to keep everyone entertained before, during, and after your fabulous day.
There are so many things to do, places to see, and sights to savor. You can enjoy:
Art exhibits
Concerts
Parades
Fireworks
And so much more!
Everyone will leave with fun new memories to cherish and talk about for generations to come.
So, whether you’re planning your upcoming wedding, celebrating an anniversary, or just coming to enjoy all the fun festivities that Portland has to offer this June, be sure to include a visit to our store while you’re here.

We would love to send you home with a custom piece from our gallery to remember your special adventure.
